Over the past few years Bird Stainless has been growing market share within the Marine industry, particularly in the segment of propulsion. The state of our oceans especially has deservedly received a lot of media attention recently under the spotlight of our global climate emergency. Our polluted beaches and oceans are in urgent need of cleaning in order to protect wildlife and save the ecosystems that live in this environment. As reported by unesco.org, plastic debris causes the deaths of more than a million seabirds every year, as well as more than 100,000 marine mammals (www.unesco.org). In recognition of this need for urgent action, Bird Stainless has become a commercial partner of Big Blue Ocean Cleanup.

Big Blue Ocean Cleanup run the Ocean Protection Project, which is a global ambassador network supporting volunteer teams with the relevant equipment required to clean up our coastlines. Alongside cleaning up the coastline, Big Blue Ocean Cleanup run a scientific research programme to assess the effects that plastic pollution is having on marine life, an education programme in schools to raise awareness of the importance of oceans for sustaining life, and a technology development programme supporting engineers who are working to deal with the effects of our pollution problem and come up with more sustainable ways to manufacture and process without damaging the environment. With bases in the UK, Canada, Malaysia and Australia, this is an initiative taking a global approach to helping to improve environmental conditions.
