Precipitation Hardened

17/4PH

17-4PH is a martensitic precipitation hardened stainless steel, suitable for applications requiring high strength. This grade derives its name from its chemical composition; 17% Chromium, 4% Nickel. Age hardening is achieved using different temperatures to provide structured mechanical properties which form the recognised conditions of 17-4PH. Each condition denotes the approximate temperature of the aging process in °F. This heat treatment is followed by a cooling process, which can vary based on the condition of 17-4PH. 17-4PH combines high strength, toughness and corrosion resistance comparable to austenitic 304. This grade of stainless steel is also magnetic. Our stock is generally produced in accordance with ASTM A564 Grade 630.
