Properties

  • High strength
  • Acceptable level of toughness
  • Moderate – good corrosion resistance
  • High fatigue resistance
  • Suitable for heat treatment to achieve high strength
  • FV520B stainless steel has high impact resistance in the 550 Deg C ‘aged’ condition

This is a steel which can be aged at varying temperatures to give varying degrees of mechanical strengths. It displays characteristics of both austenitic and martensitic stainless steels.

Applications

Used in defence, in aerospace equipment and missile components and as a commercial grade in oil and gas industries, specifically for valves and pumps.

The metallurgy of these steels can be complex and if you need any help concerning usage, heat treatment etc, please do consult our in-house metallurgist for advice specific to your needs.
